The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent research center at the University of Washington. Its mission is to monitor global health conditions and health systems, as well as to evaluate interventions, initiatives, and reforms. IHME Client Services is a social enterprise established by the University of Washington; it generates sustainable funding for IHME by seeking out and serving corporate clients interested in IHME’s data and analytic capabilities, mainly firms in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, tech and insurance industries.
POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of the Associate position is to develop and implement Client Services initiatives. This will be accomplished through business development, go-to-market strategy setting and implementation, client outreach and engagement, relationship management, and team strengthening. As Associates develop skills and areas of expertise within the team, they can advance in authority, responsibility, and salary. The team is based in Seattle, and team members work both fully remote and hybrid.
This is a one-year renewable contract, where the incumbent may earn a yearly incentive bonus based upon Client Services incentive targets being achieved during the plan year.

Analytic Content and Marketing Material Creation
- Learn relevant IHME content, including epidemiological and statistical methods, to ably translate this content into conversations with current and future clients.
- Create and curate a library of sales enablement content, including presentations aimed at new clients, and documentation to support existing client work.
- Serve as the lead in developing training content and tools. Create target client persona profiles.
Client Engagement and Business Development support
- Respond to client questions on data and methods.
- Work with customer relationship management (CRM) tools to generate accurate insights.
- Develop concept notes, with the aim of converting these into future licenses and projects.
Training and knowledge transfer
- Develop strong internal working relationships to facilitate information sharing.
- Onboard new Client Services staff with best practices.
- Provide input to strategic decisions related to team strengthening and the overall direction of IHME Client Services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in field related to business, public policy, public health, or life sciences. At least four years of professional work experience in business consulting, technical project management, business development, or other relevant fields.
- Proven track record of engagement with large, global organizations in sectors of interest to IHME Client Services (examples include life sciences, healthcare, insurance, technology).
- Familiarity with the applications of health data in commercial decision-making.
- Fluency in English essential, good command of working French, Spanish, or Chinese an additional benefit.
- High degree of political acumen and cultural competency to work effectively with high-level external partners and collaborators.
- Proven track record of generating significant revenue for an organization.
- Extensive travel may be required, up to 20%.
- Must have valid passport or ability to obtain passport to travel internationally.
- Due to the international scope of our work, hours may extend into evenings and weekends.
- IHME Client Services is headquartered in Seattle, but team members are free to work remotely in US, excluding US territories, as long as their working hours overlap 50% of operating hours between 8 am and 6 pm PT.
