Christian Razo
Acting Assistant ProfessorDr. Christian Razo, MSc, PhD, currently holds an Acting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Health Metrics Sciences at the University of Washington's School of Medicine. She also serves at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the same university. Dr. Razo's research primarily focuses on women's health, nutrition, cardiometabolic risk factors and the epidemiology and burden of non-communicable diseases in Latin America.
Originally from Mexico, Dr. Razo earned her doctoral degree in Population Nutrition Sciences from the School of Public Health of Mexico. She also holds a master's degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Guadalajara and a bachelor's degree in nutrition from the University of Guanajuato. Following her PhD, Dr. Razo undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at IHME, where she worked primarily on the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors (GBD) Study. Her postdoctoral research involved developing innovative methodologies for analyzing complex data on cardiovascular diseases, cardiometabolic risk factors and exploring areas such as gynecological diseases and anemia.
Before joining IHME, Dr. Razo worked as a research scientist at the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico. During her tenure there, she contributed to evaluating community-based interventions aimed at improving outcomes for non-communicable diseases and conducted country-level burden of disease studies.
